Have you ever been on a diet for a period and you are not sure if the diet is working, how much weight you’ve lost or simply not knowing what your next meal will be?
If you have answered yes to any of the above then the cause could be that you were not fully prepared for such venture.
To be successful at a smoothie diet for weight loss requires that one be prepared mentally. You need to have a clear understanding of where you are now and where you’d like to be by not only envisioning what you’d look like after finishing the smoothie diet but by also taking action by following the subsequent steps:
Let’s Get Ready To Lose Weight by Drinking Smoothies
Step 1: Remove Certain Foods
A week before the smoothie cleanse, ensure that you do not stock up on any foods that will not be beneficial throughout the smoothie diet. Do not buy sweets, dairy (milk, cheese, ice cream, and yogurt), biscuit, bread, meat, alcohol, soda, coffee, oil, pastries, sugar, canned fruits and vegetables, rice and grains. The evening before the smoothie diet empty your cupboard and refrigerator of any of the above mentioned foods that were left over.
Step 2: Ensure that Blender is in Working Condition
As you may know, we will be using the blender a lot during the smoothie diet. Hence, ensure that your blender is in working condition and is capable of making power smoothie recipes. A good blender to make smoothies should be powerful enough to make your smoothies creamy and smooth. Some blenders even comes with a smoothie feature. If you don’t have a blender or if your current blender is not capable of making creamy smoothies, just add a blender to your shopping list and remember to buy one that is very powerful.
Step 3: Make a Shopping List and go Shopping
When shopping for super foods to make fat burning smoothies it is recommended to use only organic produce, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Firstly, find recipes to make filling and healthy smoothies for weight loss, make a note of the recipes you will be preparing over the course of the smoothie diet and make a shopping list to include the foods used in the chosen recipes. Make a shopping list and visit the grocery store every 3-4 days so to ensure that you are using fresh fruits and vegetables in your healthy smoothie recipes. Buy the items on your shopping list the evening before first use.
Step 4: Measure and Weigh
On the morning that you begin the smoothie diet, before drinking water or making smoothies ensure that you record your current weight and measure areas of your body. You will use a measuring tape to measure areas of the body and preferably a digital bathroom scale to check your weight so as to easily assess when less than a pound is lost.
Begin by creating a journal/chart or use an app to record the start date, start/current weight, goal weight and current measurements of various areas of the body (waist, thighs, hip, arms, calves, chest and midriff). You will also use a journal/app to record your weight every 3 days (preferably) or every day or at the end of the smoothie diet so to surprise yourself of the great smoothie diet results. You will also continue to use a journal/app to record areas of the body every week or at the end of the smoothie cleanse. Note that you will be taking measurements for left and right arm, left and right thigh and left and right calf. Below you will find body sculpture and weight loss progress charts templates that you can download and use or you can use the charts as a guideline.
Step 5: Take “Before” Pictures
Another thing to do on the morning that you start the smoothie diet is to take a few photos of your body from the front, side, back with your hands at your side. Try to pose in an angle that you can replicate at the end of smoothie diet so that you can measure and compare the progress. If you are unable to take the photos of your body, you can always ask a friend or family member to take the photos for you.
Take the above mentioned steps into account and you will be on your way to a successful path of losing weight by drinking smoothies. This was not mentioned in the above steps but it is always best to check with your doctor or medical advisor before starting any weight loss plan, mainly, if you have any ongoing medical conditions.
