Step 1: Choose the Right Smoothie Recipe
You will first need to decide on a smoothie recipe you wish to prepare. When choosing a smoothie recipe to make without a blender, it is best to go for a recipe with ingredients that can be easily mashed. Soft textured ingredients. Fruits like papaya, banana, mango, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, avocado etc. works well with this method. Using raw vegetables may not be perfect for such method. As vegetables don’t have that really soft texture that is easy to smash by hand, but with the aid of a blender or food processor. However, you will still be able to incorporate vegetables in your smoothies by using superfood powder or any plant based powder. Ensure that the plant based powder you choose is organic and does not have any unhealthy ingredients (like sugar or additives).
Step 2: Pre-Prepare Ingredients
Once you decide on what smoothie recipe you will preparing, gather the ingredients. Wash your fruits. Chop fruits in small pieces and remove the seeds from the fruits with seeds. Pour and measure the liquid you plan on using in your smoothie in a separate container. Liquid may be milk, water, juice, infused water or cool tea. Preferably place chopped fruits and chosen liquid in refrigerator for at least an hour, so that the fruits and liquid becomes cold. Consuming smoothies made with cold ingredients are better tasting than simply consuming warm smoothies made with room temperature ingredients.
Step 3: Put Fruits into a Bowl
If fruits were refrigerated and possibly frozen, thaw frozen fruits until they are soft enough to get mashed, but should still be cold. Crushing semi-frozen fruits makes a great looking frosty smoothie. Place fruits into a bowl and mash fruits until smooth or until it reaches desired consistency. You may use a spoon, spatula or whisk to mash the fruits. Aim to make the mixture as smooth as possible, although it may not be the same consistency that you would get with a blender. Remove any lumps or extra particles, if needed.
Step 4: Add Plant-Based Powder or Any Other Powder Forms
Add superfood powder, plant-based powder or any other powder forms (like cinnamon or nutmeg powder) to the smooth fruit mixture created in step 3. Start mixing the powder into the smoothie mixture by using a whisk, spoon or spatula to stir combination. Continue to stir until the powder form is evenly distributed and the mixture is once again smooth. Remove any lumps or extra particles, if needed.
Step 5: Add Liquid
You will need to slowly pour liquid into the smoothie mixture so that you don’t severely disturb the texture of the smoothie by making it too watery. So, slowly pour chosen liquid or liquid extract into mixture created in step 4. Mix and stir well. If the smoothie mixture is too thick, slowly pour more liquid and once again continue mixing and stirring. If the smoothie mixture becomes too watery or thin, in a separate container, smash some more fruits until smooth. Bring the smash fruits to the main bowl with the smoothie mixture and stir consistently. Ensure that you continue stirring until desired consistency is reached.
Step 6: Serve
Your smoothie is now complete! The consistency may not be like that of a blender made smoothie. But will still be nutritious and delicious. Pour your smoothie in a cup. You may serve smoothie immediately or you may put it into your refrigerator for it to be chilled and serve later. Once, you’re ready to consume your smoothie, you may top it off with additional ingredients to make it look appealing. If you decide to top off your smoothie using crushed ice, don’t use much ice and consume you smoothie quickly as when the ice melts it will water down your smoothie. You may also top off your smoothie using crushed nuts, diced or small fruits or with seeds, like chia seeds or flaxseeds.
Step 7: Enjoy
It is time to enjoy your delicious smoothie made without a blender. Slowly sip your smoothie and enjoy every drop. You may drink it straight from the cup or use a straw. Remember to consumed it when cold or chilled. It does taste so much better this way than consuming a warm smoothie.
